AccuWeigh’s Adelaide branch recently supplied two heavy-duty platform scales to a company that provided them and other equipment to a Pilbara iron ore mine. The platform scales were built with a 10 tonne maximum capacity and are being used to monitor the levels of product in a re-usable container.
The weight is determined by a Rinstrum R1203D weight transmitter which outputs the weight as a 4-20mA output rather than a digital weight reading. The 4-20mA output is used by other systems on site to alert the operator to low product levels at a predetermined weight.
Outputs such as 4-20mA, serial protocols, network protocols and so forth are often used in highly automated systems and minimise the involvement of personnel in monitoring and operating a system.
