AccuWeigh recently manufactured and commissioned a heavy-duty, dual weighing in-motion (WIM) for a North Queensland Copper Mine near the Gulf of Carpentaria.

The WIM is specifically designed to weigh the concentrated axle loads of fully-loaded mine vehicles prior to unloading. The engineered design ensures that none of the load cells are used beyond their rated load.

This particular installation uses AccuWeigh’s IT8000E driver control station, a fully-programmable digital weighing terminal that stores vehicle IDs and transaction data. To identify a vehicle to the system, ID tags are fitted to all vehicles and a SICK tag reader performs the tag read and transmits this to the IT8000E.

This customer plans to expand the system in the near future to allow transaction processing at a nearby office. AccuWeigh has allowed for this expansion with the selection of the existing equipment provided.

A large, 112 mm high digit, super-bright red LED remote display was also provided to display the axle and total loads to the driver.

AccuWeigh has already installed a number of these heavy-duty dual WIMs around the country for other mine sites.
