Laser Barcode Scanners – SICK and Data Logic

Can accommodate virtually any industry or industrial application in the field of automatic identification.

Laser bar code readers are used typically to read and decode 1D codes. 1D codes are also known as bar codes or picket fence codes and are the most common data encoding technology. With the use of suitable readers, the information within a bar code can be decoded and assigned to a specific object.

Maximum reading performance, more flexibility when changing products, and optimum networking with formats that are becoming increasingly smaller are the key requirements of today’s identification solutions.

Vision Camera Barcode Scanners – SICK and Data Logic

Fast, reliable decoding of low-contrast, directly marked codes improves productivity.

Readers based on camera technology are used to read 2D codes. 2D codes represent the latest in printed bar code technology and allow for the encryption of far greater amounts of information than their 1D predecessors. 2D codes are also known as Matrix or Quick Read (QR) codes. In addition to reading encrypted data Vision Camera Readers also perform image capture which is useful for custody and condition verification.

These readers identify markings on nearly any surface, including metal, glass, plastic or paper. Plus, different models, interfaces, and networking capabilities provide application flexibility.

Hybrid Systems – SICK and Data Logic

Combining both laser and vision scanning for a fully optimised solution for identifying bar codes on goods and products.

The SICK omni directional portal system by Diverseco is extremely flexible and can accommodate up to 24 laser scanners or up to 9 camera scanners or a combination of both technologies (HYBRID) to ensure maximum possible coverage for all visible sides or surfaces of an item.

Omnidirectional Portal Systems by Diverseco can eliminate labour for presenting items as well as greatly reduce shift times as conveyor systems can run at a much higher speed than if an operator was manually realigning items.

OCR and Video Coding

Cutting edge technology to maximise identification performance.

The use of SICK camera-based vision systems by Diverseco can open the gateway to advanced processing technologies such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Video Coding (VC) & Image Archiving. Settings range from very high quality for OCR scanning to very high compression for image archiving. This resource-intensive processing of raw data takes place directly on the integrated hardware of the ICR880/ICR890 camera systems so that decoding performance is not compromised.

If the system cannot read a code, or if there is no routing information stored in the database for a particular ID code, video coding can be used to read the address information from the image generated by the ICR880/ICR890 camera systems.
